Investment Fees

“It’s not just about what you earn on your investments, but also about what you keep.”

Transparency matters.

So does understanding what you pay.

When investing, there are several fees associated with managing and administering your investment. While these fees may seem small individually, they all contribute to the overall cost of your investment and can influence your long-term investment returns.

We believe that understanding these costs is an important part of making informed financial decisions. That's why we want our clients to understand what each fee represents, who receives it and what services it covers.

There are generally four main fee components associated with your investment:

1. Financial Intermediary Fee

Our ongoing financial advice and service fee

Our financial intermediary fee is 0.50% per annum (excluding VAT), equivalent to 0.58% per annum including VAT.

This fee compensates us for the ongoing financial advice, guidance and service we provide throughout your investment journey.

Our role extends beyond simply setting up an investment. We assist with monitoring your investment, reviewing your financial needs, providing ongoing advice and making recommendations when circumstances or investment objectives change.

We believe that a good financial relationship is built on ongoing advice, accessibility and making sure your investment continues to support your financial goals.

2. Administration Fee

The cost of administering your investment

The administration fee is charged by Glacier for providing the investment platform and the administration services associated with your investment.

This includes the administration and record-keeping of your investment, processing transactions and withdrawals, providing investment reporting and maintaining the platform through which your investment is managed.

Glacier's administration fee operates on a sliding scale. This means that as the value of your investment increases, the applicable administration fee generally decreases.

In other words, larger investments can benefit from a lower administration fee.

3. Portfolio Management Fee

The cost of managing your investment portfolio

The portfolio management fee covers the management and administration of the selected investment portfolio or wrap.

Our portfolio management fee is approximately 0.29% per annum, including VAT, on consolidated funds.

This fee is made up of:

  • A 0.15% per annum platform portfolio management component charged by Glacier (excluding VAT).

  • A 0.10% per annum white-label portfolio management component (excluding VAT), which is earned by us.

Together, these components amount to 0.25% excluding VAT, or 0.2875% including VAT, rounded to 0.29%.

This fee relates to the management of the consolidated investment portfolio and is separate from the individual investment management fees charged by the underlying funds.

4. Total Investment Management Fee

The cost of managing the underlying investment funds

This is generally the largest component of the overall investment cost.

Your investment may consist of several underlying investment funds, each managed by its own investment management company. These fund managers charge fees for managing the assets, implementing their investment strategies and making investment decisions.

The total investment management fee reflects the costs associated with these underlying funds.

The actual fee depends on the type of wrap and the specific underlying funds included in your investment portfolio. As these funds can change when portfolio adjustments are made, the total investment management fee may also change over time.

It is therefore important to understand that this fee is not necessarily fixed and can differ between investment portfolios.

Understanding the Bigger Picture

When considering the cost of an investment, it is important to look beyond individual fees and understand the combined effect of all the applicable charges.

Each fee serves a different purpose, whether it is providing ongoing financial advice, administering your investment, managing your portfolio or managing the underlying funds.

We believe in being transparent about these costs so that you can make informed decisions with a clear understanding of where your money goes.

Your investment should always be evaluated in terms of the value it provides, the service you receive and its ability to help you achieve your long-term financial goals.
